My story started in the inner-city Glenville neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio, where distractions were everywhere and it didn't take much for anybody to lose their way. But behind the noise, I was blessed with something many people unfortunately didn't have—a family that stood together. Our home wasn't perfect. I lived with my mom, my dad, my brother Justin, my grandmother, my auntie, and my first cousin under one roof. Like every family, we had our challenges, but what we had was far more important: love, structure, and the unwavering belief that family comes first. Those values became the foundation that shaped the man I would become. From an early age, my grandmother recognized something in me that I couldn't yet see for myself. She saw an artist. Even though she didn't have much, she poured what she had into nurturing my creativity, encouraging me to believe that my gift mattered. But as I got older, that dream slowly faded into the background.

In the underserved community where I was raised, there weren't many opportunities to cultivate artistic talent in the public school system. Before long, the streets and the neighborhood began to influence me more than my sketchbook. I found myself surrounded by people who, at the time, I thought were the ones I needed to fit in with. Looking back, I realize many of them didn't share the same ambitions or the strong family foundation I had at home. Yet they had something that seemed important to me then—they wore the latest fashions, and projected an image that I admired. I then began chasing that appearance, believing that fitting in was more valuable than embracing the unique gifts God had already placed upon me. Despite the many shortcomings of the neighborhood, one thing never changed—I wanted to make my family proud. As teenager, I spent a lot of time around the guys in my neighborhood. I was loyal to them, even when that loyalty wasn't always returned. At the time, I thought acceptance was something you earned by fitting in.

There's one day I'll never forget.

About ten of us caught the 326 (RTA city bus) to the Tower City Mall downtown. The new white and red Retro Jordan 5s had just been released, and everyone was excited to show them off. As we walked through the mall, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The group kept drifting farther ahead of me. Every time I picked up my pace to catch them, they'd move farther away, I didn't realize it then, but they were doing it on purpose. Finally, I caught up to them as they were talking to a group of girls. That's when the guy everyone looked up to turned around and shouted loud enough for everyone to hear, "If you ain't got the new Jordans on, you gotta walk twenty steps behind us." The laughter hit me all at once. I looked down at my own shoes and realized I was the only one who wasn't wearing the new Jordans. In that moment, I wasn't just embarrassed—I felt invisible. For the first time, I understood what it felt like to be judged, not by my character, but by what I couldn't afford to wear. The walk through that mall felt longer than it really was.

Looking back now, I realized that moment became a turning point. It planted a fire inside of me. I was determined that one day I would never allow my circumstances to define my worth, Instead of letting that humiliation break me, I let it become fuel. The same anger I felt that day became the drive that pushed me to chase every dream people thought was out of reach. Ironically, the very thing I was once mocked for not having—would one day inspire me to build a brand of my own. Not to impress people, but to create something that would remind others that confidence isn't something you wear, It's something you become.
